Kia Ora – I deal with communication and with reporting for Community Waitakere.  I have a background in science (PhD ecology) and have used it to focus on communication, awareness raising, and community driven conservation.  One of my most privileged moments was to be part of reintroducing kokako in the Waitakere Ranges, when I was project manager for Ark in the Park.  In Taranaki I was the sanctuary manager for Lake Rotokare, which focusses on kiwi recovery, environmental education and restoration.   I also have worked in international conservation, including on Antarctic issues as a campaigner for Greenpeace and later as a Board member of Antarctica New Zealand, on community invasive species management for the Invasive Species Specialist Group of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and on global and Pacific engagement for the Department of Conservation. I firmly believe that communities and their environment are intrinsically linked, and that there is always something that any individual or group can do to have a positive effect.
