David Kenkel lives with his partner and children in West Auckland. His working background includes social work, counselling, family therapy, group facilitation, men*s stopping violence programmes, policy work and child advocacy. David has worked extensively alongside children and families struggling with difficulties and hardship and in particular with children who witness violence in the home. He regards the children and families he has worked with as his best teachers. David was previously a Child advocate for UNICEF New Zealand and an advisor for the Office of the Children's Commissioner. He now lectures part time in Social Work and is active in his local community in areas such as collaborative projects with Local Authorities to prevent family violence. He often consults and presents on advocacy with children who have witnessed violence.
