Family Action is pleased to announce that from the 11 Sep 2017, they will be providing a specialist crisis support service for adult (18+) survivors of sexual harm in the West Auckland Community.  This area covers Massey down to Avondale.  The Support Service will initially operate 8.30am to 8pm week days, but will expand in July 2018 to provide 24 outreach crisis support.  More >>

The handbook, produced with the Ministries of Health and Education, is structured around the age of the child - from birth through to 18 years. It covers things like how to enrol with a family doctor, when immunisations are due, and how to enrol in education, from early learning services through to secondary school.  It can be used as a type of checklist, to ensure children and young people in care have access to all the universal services they’re entitled to. New Zealand needs to build a minimum of 2000 social houses a year to fix the situation that has left Kiwi families living in unsanitary, unsafe and unhealthy housing, The Salvation Army says.

New Zealand has performed poorly in a global report card on children’s well-being, and Kiwi kids will continue to miss out unless there is a massive upheaval in how children’s best interests are served, says child rights organisation UNICEF NZ.  New Zealand was ranked 34th out of 41 EU/OECD countries, according to the latest report issued by the UNICEF Office of Research - Innocenti. The Innocenti report measures how well countries perform in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) identified as most important for child well-being.  Read the report >>>
