CE's Pen - Susan Warren

Ng? mihi nui, ng? mihi mahana, ng? mihi aroha. T?n? kotou katoa, Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Nisa bula vinaka, Taloha ni, Fakalofa lahi atu, Ni hao, Namaste, and warm greetings.

It’s hard to believe that 2019 is coming to an end.  As we head into Christmas and look forward to a much-deserved break with family and friends, it’s also an opportunity to reflect on the year that was.

While there has been much to celebrate this year, it’s hard not to view 2019 through the lens of the two tragic events that bracketed the year – the shocking massacre of innocent citizens on March 15 and the recent Whakaari/White Island disaster.  Both events have changed our view of ourselves as New Zealanders.  We’ve all been forced to recognise that our nation is not as tolerant or as safe as we like to believe, but we’ve also been reminded that when the chips are down, we are a wh?nau that cares for one another.

Welcome - New Education M?ori Manager

Kia ora,

I am super excited to be starting my new role as M?ori Education Manager at COMET. My professional career has been dedicated to supporting the educational dreams and aspirations of our M?ori learners. This position will allow me to continue to support the potential of our M?ori communities across T?maki Makaurau with the aim of seeing a culturally responsive education system that commits to educational success for M?ori. I am looking forward to building relationships with key organisations and initiating a range of projects that will drive change and create further opportunities including the naturalisation of te reo M?ori.

Will Flavell

YOUTH EMPLOYABILITY - Licence to Write

A big thank you to all of you who have made a difference to the lives of young people in your region this year.

Thank you for your time, your commitment, your courage and your love. No-one can keep working with the complexities and challenges and workloads that we carry unless there is love and care for all whom we serve.
