Through workshops, one-on-one coaching, and tailored resources, Community Waitākere is making disaster preparedness accessible and actionable.

The initiative focuses on de-mystifying what it means to be ready for a crisis and how to mobilise an effective community response. Leaders gain practical skills and the confidence to coordinate efforts, ensuring their communities are supported during critical times.

Workshops cover key areas such as emergency planning, communication strategies, and resource management. Leaders are encouraged to develop personalised response plans that align with their community’s unique needs, drawing on local knowledge and strengths.

One-on-one coaching provides additional support, addressing specific challenges and fostering leadership skills. The impact of this work extends beyond the initial training sessions.
