Te Au o Te Koopua is a community shared workspace in the heart of Henderson.
Te Au o Te Koopua is a name gifted to Community Waitākere by tangata whenua Te Kawerau a Maki, and we are incredibly honoured and humbled to have been bestowed with it.
The shared space sits on ancestral land where iwi once gathered to support each other. It is a place that holds great mana and we honour that whakapapa through our mahi today.
The kupu “Au” comes from “Te Au o Te Whenua”, an ancestor of Maki. “Koopua” means deep pool, signifying unity and reflects our location being at the meeting of the two streams: Opanuku and Waikumete.
Our gorgeous and friendly co-working space is home to an epic community of talented westies.
